About the Role

 

Main activities

TIG & MIG Welding precision sheet metal components Fabricating sheet metal using hand tools. Working on thin gauge metals Working to engineering drawings Finishing, fettling, and grinding own work

Skills & abilities

Knowledge of specific welding processes, such as TIG, MIG and ARC

Skilled in Sheet metal fabrication

Ability to use variety of tools and equipment.

Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude

Ability to read drawings and recognize welding symbols specifications.

Knowledge of industry safety practices

 

 

Working Conditions:

This position works in a production environment with the risk of injury. Some safety equipment must be worn when working with equipment in the shop. Bending, lifting and pushing heavy steel is required.

Press brake operators produce parts and tools from metal materials using a press brake, a computer numeric controlled (CNC) piece of equipment that makes precision bends on the material. Press brake operators look at drawings for the finished product, make adjustments to the machine to control speed, material feed and path of the bend as well as make sure the machines are set up properly, working well, and producing quality product. They make sure their machines are working at full capacity, are stocked with needed materials, well-maintained and perform periodic checks on output. They look at the finished product to ensure it is defect-free and ready for the next step in Production.
